About Jake

I call the accompanying picture, "Dawn of the Last Hunt". I took that picture of my father in 1986. The sunrise was incredible that morning and Dad always took time to enjoy things of that sort. This was the morning of dad's last duck hunt. Dad and I collected several greenheads that day. He probably shot most of them! After that he was not physically able to hunt anymore and he died a few years later.
His passion for duck hunting far exceeds mine, but he instilled in me a true love for the outdoors. The time we spent together in a duck blind was precious and will always remain with me. Making duck calls is one of the ways I remember him. Everyone called dad Jake. I wish I could give one of Jake's Calls to him.
Creating beautiful hand-crafted Duck Calls has become a passion of mine. What started out as an interesting hobby has grown into a business. After my house became filled with duck calls, it was decided that I should share my hobby.
In the fall of 2007 and 2008 my calls were selected to be made available to the Ducks Unlimited Chapters in North Dakota to use at their fund raising events. A cocobolo wood call was selected in 2007. It is trimmed with a brass band and lasered engraved with the DU logo and individually numbered 1-70 (in honor of the 70 years of DU). A Maple Burl call with Bloodwood stripes was selected for 2008.
My calls and the box can be customized in this manner for you and for special occasions.
My inventory of calls is in constant flux. The following pages contain pictures and descriptions of my available calls. I also offer a wide variety of duck hunter gifts.
